5 Habits That Make College Feel More Peaceful

When you enter your college-era, it can take time to find the schedule that works for YOU! Every girly finds their rhythm at a different pace- for some it can take a week! Others (like yours truly) it can take a few months! Creating habits is a great way to start sorting out that chaos and new life! Peace isn't always some fancy spa weekend or a total schedule overhaul. It’s found in the tiny things — the soft moments, cozy habits, and small boundaries that make life feel ✨lighter✨. So here are some of my little habits that help me romanticize heck, the out-of-college, and bring a little calm to the crazy.🎀
🌸 1. Soft Starts > Stress Starts
Waking up doesn’t have to feel like being launched out of a cannon, thankfully🚀. Try starting your morning gently — no chaotic scrolling, no jumping straight into class mode, or rushing to get ready! Just slow, warm, and soft.
💡 my go-to morning vibe:
cozy hoodie- it could be the middle of August, but nothing beats waking up to a cold room and sneaking into that hoodie!
soft lighting! Fairy lights, open the curtains a little, turn on a lamp- it goes a long way into allowing your body to slowly adjust from a dream coma, to getting ready to conquer the day. 💪
soft playlist (I'm talking Lana Del Rey, Aurora, Benson Boone type vibe)
5 minutes of journaling- even just “what’s on my mind this morning?” or a gratitude list!
a pretty drink — herbal tea, water, lemonade, or that vanilla hot cocoa you love. Even an energy drink is great! No judging here! (I'm guilty of that last one 👀)
🍓 2. Romanticize the Routine
Your day might be packed, but you can still make it pretty. Lighting a candle while studying? Mood. Wearing a cute claw clip for your 8 AM? Main character moment. Life gets 100x better when you treat the little things like ✨aesthetic rituals✨.
💡 some faves:
pasta in a cute bowl with a side of sparkling water- perfection
switching into a matching PJ set after class- A MUST! (Bonus points for cute patterns 🤭)
walking to class with your go-to playlist and cute sunglasses
📵 3. One Hour, No Screens 💗
Social media is fun — until it’s 2 hours later and suddenly 2 in the morning and you feel mentally fried 🍳. Giving yourself just one blissfully unplugged hour can reset your entire brain!
💡 no-screen hour ideas:
doodle in your planner- I've found that doing this actually motivates me to work when it looks all cute!
stretch + move your body a lil’ bit! Yoga, a short walk outside, or even just run for food. Getting the blood flowing is like a little reset for our body.
sit outside and people-watch with snacks and a podcast
write a letter to future you (yes, really.)
plan your next grocery run- don't be afraid to include that little sweet treat for getting there ✨
🧁 4. Plan Like a Soft Girl, Not a Robot
Ditch the stressful, color-coded chaos and plan in a way that makes you feel good. Add stickers. Use pastel highlighters. Include breaks for snacks and adorable puppy videos! You are not a robot, babe!
💡 soft girl planning tips:
write your to-dos like “🌸 read 1 chapter, then a treat”
schedule-in self self-care like it's a class! Just like getting those A's is a huge priority, make an at-home spa day just as important! Taking care of yourself should be done about as consistently as that math homework is handed out. 🩷
give yourself grace if things don’t all get done — you’re doing amazing! You're doing your best, and that's more than enough! 🤗
🫶 5. Protect Your Peace Night
Not every single night has to be social, productive, or impressive. At least once a week, take a you night — no guilt, no pressure. Just a comfy blanket, your favorite comfort show, and a whole lot of nothing 💤
💡 peace night inspo:
skincare & a rom-com
journaling under fairy lights
ramen + rewatching Friends
baking something small and sweet
buy yourself flowers and do your nails
spend time with a friend and study the scriptures
✨ Little Reminder ✨
You don’t have to hustle every second to deserve rest. You’re allowed to build a college life that’s soft, slow, sweet, and peaceful — it's not always a constant, power-through thing.
And let’s be honest: happiness looks so good on you 💕And taking time to take care of yourself does magic! In whatever way you choose to pamper and show yourself love, it's important. We are beautiful treasures of heaven, living our lives for the very first time! It can be a lot, but it can also be a JOY!! It's all about how we choose to live our lives! 💌
Your peace is precious, your rest is productive, and your life is a masterpiece in progress.
xoxo, Emma 🌷
